What this estimate means

After fertilization, the developing embryo travels before attaching within the uterus. Research using hormone timing found that successful pregnancies had a range of implantation days rather than one universal date.

The calculator places that research-based range after estimated ovulation. For IVF, embryo age at transfer changes how many developmental days have already passed.

Implantation and testing

Pregnancy tests detect hCG after it begins to rise. A test taken during an estimated implantation window may be too early to answer whether pregnancy has begun.

Follow your fertility clinic testing schedule after treatment. For an unassisted cycle, testing around the expected period is generally more informative than testing several days early.

Limits of this estimate

  • An estimated ovulation date introduces uncertainty into every later date.
  • The calculation cannot confirm fertilization, implantation, pregnancy location, or ongoing pregnancy.
  • Bleeding and cramping have many possible causes and cannot date implantation.
